Happy is it for him if he knows how to<br \/>\nsearch out their secret veins and enrich himself with<br \/>\ntheir hidden treasures.<\/p>\n<p>They are an \u2018armory\u2019, containing all manner of offensive and<br \/>\ndefensive weapons. Blessed is he who has learned to enter<br \/>\ninto the sacred arsenal, to put on the breastplate and the<br \/>\nhelmet, and to lay his hand to the spear and to the sword.<\/p>\n<p>They are a \u2018pharmacy\u2019, in which the believer will find all<br \/>\nmanner of restoratives and blessed elixirs; nor lacks there<br \/>\nan ointment for every wound, a cordial for every faintness,<br \/>\na remedy for every disease. Blessed is he who is well skilled<br \/>\nin heavenly pharmacy and knows how to lay hold on the<br \/>\nhealing virtues of the promises of God.<\/p>\n<p>The promises are to the Christian a \u2018storehouse of food\u2019.<br \/>\nThey are as the granaries which Joseph built in Egypt, or as<br \/>\nthe golden pot wherein the manna was preserved. Blessed is<br \/>\nhe who can take the five barley loaves and fishes of promise,<br \/>\nand break them till his five thousand necessities shall all<br \/>\nbe supplied, and he is able to gather up baskets full of<br \/>\nfragments.<\/p>\n<p>Yes, they are the \u2018jewel room\u2019 in which the Christian\u2019s crown<br \/>\ntreasures are preserved. The regalia are his, secretly to<br \/>\nadmire today, which he shall openly wear in Paradise<br \/>\nhereafter. He is already privileged as a king with the silver<br \/>\nkey that unlocks the strong room; he may even now grasp<br \/>\nthe scepter, wear the crown, and put upon his shoulders the<br \/>\nimperial mantle.<\/p>\n<p>O, how unutterably rich are the promises of our faithful,<br \/>\ncovenant-keeping God! If we had the tongue of the mightiest<br \/>\nof orators, and if that tongue could be touched with a live<br \/>\ncoal from off the altar, yet still it could not utter a tenth<br \/>\nof the praises of the exceeding great and precious promises of<br \/>\nGod.
