I have heard of him, and though I have not
\nseen his face, unceasingly I have adored him.<\/p>\n
But I shall SEE him!<\/p>\n
Yes, we shall actually gaze upon the exalted Redeemer!<\/p>\n
Realize the thought!
\nIs there not a \u2018young heaven\u2019 within it?<\/p>\n
You shall see the hand that was nailed for you;
\nyou shall kiss the very lips that said, \u201cI thirst;\u201d
\nyou shall see the thorn-crowned head,
\nand bow with all the blood-washed throng!<\/p>\n
You, the chief of sinners, shall adore him who washed you
\nin his blood; when you shall have a vision of his glory!<\/p>\n
Faith is precious, but what must sight be?<\/p>\n
To view Jesus as the Lamb of God through the glass
\nof faith, makes the soul rejoice with joy unspeakable!<\/p>\n
But oh! to see him face to face,
\nto look into those dear eyes;
\nto be embraced by those divine arms-
\nrapture begins at the very mention of it!<\/p>\n
But what must the vision be when the veil is taken from his face,
\nand the dimness from our eyes, and when we shall talk with him
\neven as a man talks with his friend.<\/p>\n
But it is not only vision, it is intimacy with him.
\nWe shall walk with him, he shall walk with us,
\nhe shall speak to us, and we shall speak to him.<\/p>\n
All that the spouse desired in Solomon\u2019s Song,
\nwe shall have, and ten thousand times more.<\/p>\n
Then will the prayer be fulfilled\u2013 \u201cLet him kiss me with
\nthe kisses of his lips, for his love is better than wine.\u201d<\/p>\n
Then we shall be able to say\u2013 \u201cHis left hand is under
\nmy head, and his right hand does embrace me.\u201d<\/p>\n
Then will he tell us HIS love\u2013
\nThen he will rehearse the ancient story
\nof the everlasting covenant!
\nof his \u2018election\u2019 of us by his own true love!
\nof his betrothal of us through his boundless affection!
\nof his \u2018purchase\u2019 of us by his rich compassion!
\nof his \u2018preservation\u2019 of us by his omnipotence!
\nand of his \u2018bringing us safe\u2019 at last to glory
\nas the result of his promise and his blood!<\/p>\n
And then will we tell to him OUR love\u2013
\nThen into his ear will we pour out the song of gratitude,
\na song such as we have never sung on earth, unmixed
\nand pure, full of serenity and joy, no groans to mar its
\nmelody; a song rapt and seraphic, like the flaming sonnets
\nwhich flash from burning tongues above.<\/p>\n
Happy, happy, happy day, when vision
\nand communion shall be ours in fullness!<\/p>\n
