{"id":2697,"date":"2013-12-07T10:11:49","date_gmt":"2013-12-07T10:11:49","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.shoalhavengospelchurch.org.au\/?p=2697"},"modified":"2013-12-07T10:11:49","modified_gmt":"2013-12-07T10:11:49","slug":"this-baffles-all-our-comprehension","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.shoalhavengospelchurch.org.au\/?p=2697","title":{"rendered":"This baffles all our comprehension!"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>This baffles all our comprehension! <\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong> <\/strong><br \/>\n<em><br \/>\n(John MacDuff, \u201cClefts of the Rock\u201d 1874)<\/em><\/p>\n<p>\u201cSo <strong>the Word became human<\/strong> and lived<br \/>\nhere on earth among us.\u201d John 1:14<\/p>\n<p><strong>What a transition! <\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>What a stoop<\/strong> for that Infinite Being who proclaimed<br \/>\nHimself the Alpha and the Omega; for \u201cThe Ancient<br \/>\nof days\u201d to assume the nature and take the form of<br \/>\na cradled infant, sleeping on a virgin mother\u2019s breast!<\/p>\n<p>We have <strong>no plumb line<\/strong> to sound the depths of that<br \/>\nhumiliation.\u00a0We have<strong> no arithmetic<\/strong> by which it can<br \/>\nbe submitted to any process of calculation.<\/p>\n<p>If we can entertain for a moment the shocking<br \/>\nsupposition of the loftiest created spirit in heaven<br \/>\nabjuring his angel nature, and becoming an insect<br \/>\nor a worm; we can, in some feeble degree, estimate<br \/>\nthe descent involved in the transformation.<\/p>\n<p>But, for the Illimitable, Everlasting Jehovah,<br \/>\nHimself to become incarnate . . .<br \/>\nthe Creator, to take the nature of the created;<br \/>\nthe Infinite, to be joined with the finite;<br \/>\nDeity, to be linked with dust;<br \/>\n<strong>this baffles all our comprehension! <\/strong><\/p>\n<p>We can only lie in adoring reverence, and<br \/>\nexclaim with the apostle, \u201cO the depth!\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWonder, O heavens, and be astonished, O earth!\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>This baffles all our comprehension!
