But if God has locked up in the bosom<br \/>\nof a saint one drop of this divine unction, that one drop<br \/>\nis armor against . . .<br \/>\nall the assaults of\u00a0<strong>sin<\/strong>,<br \/>\nall the attacks of\u00a0<strong>Satan<\/strong>,<br \/>\nall the enmity of\u00a0<strong>self<\/strong>, and<br \/>\nall the charms, pleasures, and amusements of the\u00a0<strong>world<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>Waves and billows of\u00a0<strong>affliction<\/strong> may roll over the soul\u2014<br \/>\nbut they cannot wash away this holy drop of anointing oil.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Satan<\/strong> may shoot a thousand fiery darts to inflame all<br \/>\nthe combustible material of our carnal mind\u2014but all his<br \/>\nfiery darts cannot burn up that one drop of oil which<br \/>\nGod has laid up in the depths of a broken spirit.<\/p>\n<p>The\u00a0<strong>world<\/strong>, with all its charms and pleasures, and its<br \/>\ndeadly opposition to the truth of God, may stir up waves<br \/>\nof ungodliness against this holy anointing\u2014but all the<br \/>\npowers of earth combined can never extinguish that<br \/>\none drop which God has Himself lodged in the depths<br \/>\nof a believer\u2019s heart.<\/p>\n<p>And so it has been with all the dear saints of God.<br \/>\nNot all their . . .<br \/>\nsorrows,<br \/>\nbackslidings,<br \/>\nslips,<br \/>\nfalls,<br \/>\nmiseries, and<br \/>\nwretchedness,<br \/>\nhave ever\u2014all combined, drunk up the anointing that<br \/>\nGod has bestowed upon them. If\u00a0<strong>sin<\/strong> could have done<br \/>\nit\u2014we would have sinned ourselves into hell long ago;<br \/>\nand if the\u00a0<strong>world<\/strong> or\u00a0<strong>Satan<\/strong> could have destroyed it or<br \/>\nus\u2014they would long ago have destroyed both.
