{"id":3950,"date":"2016-08-17T09:33:24","date_gmt":"2016-08-17T09:33:24","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.shoalhavengospelchurch.org.au\/?p=3950"},"modified":"2016-08-17T09:33:24","modified_gmt":"2016-08-17T09:33:24","slug":"to-walk-after-the-flesh","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.shoalhavengospelchurch.org.au\/?p=3950","title":{"rendered":"To walk after the flesh"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>To walk after the flesh<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>\u201cThere is therefore now no condemnation to<br \/>\nthose who are in Christ Jesus, who walk not<br \/>\nafter the flesh, but after the Spirit.\u201d\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/biblia.com\/bible\/kjv1900\/Rom.%208.1\">Rom. 8:1<\/a><\/p>\n<p>To walk after the flesh carries with it the idea of<br \/>\nthe flesh going before us\u2014as our leader, guide, and<br \/>\nexample\u2014and our following close in its footsteps,<br \/>\nso that wherever it drags or draws we move after<br \/>\nit, as the needle after the magnet.<\/p>\n<p>To walk after the flesh, then, is to move<br \/>\nstep by step in implicit obedience to . . .<br \/>\nthe commands of the flesh,<br \/>\nthe lusts of the flesh,<br \/>\nthe inclinations of the flesh,<br \/>\nand the desires of the flesh,<br \/>\nwhatever shape they assume,<br \/>\nwhatever garb they wear,<br \/>\nwhatever name they may bear.<\/p>\n<p>To walk after the flesh is to be ever pursuing,<br \/>\ndesiring, and doing the things that please the<br \/>\nflesh, whatever aspect that flesh may wear or<br \/>\nwhatever dress it may assume\u2014whether molded<br \/>\nand fashioned after the grosser and more flagrant<br \/>\nways of the profane world\u2014or the more refined<br \/>\nand deceptive religion of the professing church.<\/p>\n<p>But are the grosser and more manifest sinners the<br \/>\nonly people who may be said to walk after the flesh?<br \/>\nDoes not all human religion, in all its varied forms and<br \/>\nshapes, come under the sweep of this all-devouring<br \/>\nsword? Yes!
