\nWherever the anointing of the Holy One touches
\na man’s heart it spreads itself, widening and
\nextending its operations. It thus communicates
\ndivine gifts and graces wherever it comes. It . . .
\nbestows and draws out faith,
\ngives repentance and godly sorrow,
\ncauses secret self-loathing, and
\nseparation from the world,
\ndraws the affections upwards,
\nmakes sin hated, and
\nJesus and His salvation loved.<\/p>\n
Wherever the anointing of the Holy Spirit touches
\na man’s heart it diffuses itself through his whole
\nsoul, and makes him wholly a new creature. It . . .
\ngives new motives,
\ncommunicates new feelings,
\nenlarges and melts the heart, and
\nspiritualizes and draws the affections upwards.<\/p>\n
Without this sacred anointing . . .
\nall our religion is a bubble,
\nall our profession a lie, and
\nall our hopes will end in despair.<\/p>\n
O what a mercy to have one drop of this heavenly
\nanointing! To enjoy one heavenly feeling! To taste
\nthe least measure of Christ’s love shed abroad in the
\nheart! What an unspeakable mercy to have one touch,
\none glimpse, one glance, one communication out of
\nthe fullness of Him who fills all in all!<\/p>\n
By this anointing from the Holy One, the
\nchildren of God are supported under . . .
\nafflictions,
\nperplexities,
\nand sorrows.<\/p>\n
By this anointing from the Holy One,
\nthey see the hand of God . . .
\nin every chastisement,
\nin every providence,
\nin every trial,
\nin every grief, and
\nin every burden.
\nBy this anointing from the Holy One they can
\nbear chastisement with meekness; and put
\ntheir mouth in the dust, humbling themselves
\nunder the mighty hand of God.
\nEvery good word,
\nevery good work,
\nevery gracious thought,
\nevery holy desire,
\nevery spiritual feeling
\ndo we owe to this one thing:
\nthe anointing of the Holy One.

Why regeneration is called a new creation?

\n\u201cTherefore, if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature.\u201d
\n(2 Corinthians 5:17)<\/p>\n
1. The old creation and the new creature have the same Author. \u201cIn the
\nbeginning God created the heavens and the earth.\u201d Paul said in Ephesians
\n2:10, \u201cWe are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus.\u201d<\/p>\n
2. The first thing in the new creation as well as the old is light! \u201cAnd
\nGod said, Let there be light, and there was light.\u201d 2 Corinthians 4:6,
\n\u201cGod, who commanded the light to shine out of darkness, hath shined in
\nour hearts to give us the knowledge of the glory of God in Christ.\u201d<\/p>\n
3. The first creation is out of nothing; so is the new creation! 1 Peter
\n2:10, \u201cIn time past you were not a people, but are now the people of
\nGod.\u201d Ephesians 2:1, \u201cAnd you hath He quickened, who were dead.\u201d<\/p>\n
4. The Spirit of God and the Word of God gave the world its being even
\nas we were born again by the Spirit and the Word. Moses wrote, \u201cThe
\nSpirit of God moved upon the face of the waters and God said, Let there
\nbe light; and there was light .\u201d<\/p>\n
5. The same word and power which created the world now sustains and
\nsupports it! 2 Peter 3:7, \u201cBut the heavens and the earth, which are now,
\nby the same word are kept in store.\u201d Even so, \u201cwe are kept by the power
\nof God through faith unto salvation.\u201d<\/p>\n
6. When the Lord God finished the first creation, He surveyed it with
\nsatisfaction. Genesis 1:31, \u201cAnd God saw everything that He had made,
\nand behold, it was very good.\u201d Even so, \u201cWe are made the very
\nrighteousness of God in Christ.\u201d<\/p>\n
Philip Doddridge wrote in 1755:
\n\u201cThat spotless robe, which He hath wrought,
\nShall cleanse and cover all around;
\nAnd by the Holy eye of God
\nNot one blemish shall be found.\u201d<\/p>\n
The natural heart of man is concerned only with natural, temporal
\nthings. The desires of the flesh and mind are by natural origin
\nself-centered. Man is a habitual self-serving creature. He may be at
\ntimes, (especially when in the presence of the gospel), consciously
\naware of this but finds it impossible to change because this is his love
\n– \u201c \u2026 men shall be lovers of their own selves \u2026 lovers of pleasures more
\nthan lovers of God\u201d 2Timothy 3:2 & 4. He may reform outwardly for a
\nwhile and try to adjust his priorities and even strive to think
\ndifferently, but alas, he is like the dog and its vomit and the sow and
\nits muck. He has not a heart for Christ, His gospel, or His church. This
\nis not his love. This is not his desire. He has only a desire for the
\nvomit and the muck (2Peter 2:22).<\/p>\n
The only way one will ever have a heart for the things of God will be if
\nGod gives him a new heart and a new Spirit. God\u2019s promise to His people
\nis, \u201cA new heart also will I give you, and a new spirit will I put
\nwithin you …\u201d. The new heart which God gives has preeminence over the
\nold one. Oh yes, the old heart is still there to aggravate and even
\ntemporarily distract us. However, \u201cYe are of God, little children, and
\nhave overcome them: because greater is He that is in you, than he that
\nis in the world\u201d 1John 4:4.<\/p>\n
The new heart is one of faith, love and commitment. The new heart
\nembraces Christ, His gospel and His church. This comes as natural to the
\nnew heart as embracing self and the things of the world comes to the old
\nheart. If we have not a new heart and Spirit when temptation comes, when
\ncares come, when it is time for self-denial, we will take the low road
\nto fulfilling the desires of the flesh and mind and it will be revealed
\nwe are yet the servants of self rather than the servants of God. We will
\nbe, in our heart, true to what we treasure most – \u201cFor where your
\ntreasure is, there will your heart be also\u201d Matthew 6:21.

The scriptures tell us that there is only One Creator, it is God
\nalmighty. When we read in the word of God that we are \u201cnew creatures\u201d
\nand \u201ccreated in righteousness and true holiness\u201d (Eph.4:24). What does
\nit mean? Since only God can create, then this \u201cnew creation\u201d can only be
\nthe work of God.
\nThe first thing about the new creation is, that it is In Christ as are
\nall things, \u201cthat old things are passed away; behold, all things are
\nbecome new\u201d.<\/p>\n
What has passed away? That we once knew Christ after the flesh, after a
\nfleshly carnal manner, we didn\u2019t know him as the sovereign, successful,
\nSavior. We once thought he died for all men, now we know that the ones
\nhe died for died with him.<\/p>\n
We once lived for ourselves, now the love of Christ constrains us. We
\nnow know that He loved us before the world was and gave Himself for our
\nsins. Such love for us must respond with love for him.<\/p>\n
We walked by sight we now walk by faith, which we now know is the gift
\nof God. We knew nothing of any righteousness but our own, now we know
\nthat there is only one righteousness and that it was Christ\u2019s and in the
\nnew creation we have him who is our righteousness. We now know how
\nhorrible sin is, that the only way it can be dealt with justly was for
\nGod \u201cto make him sin who knew no sin\u201d, and the only way we can be
\nrighteous is for God to make us so.<\/p>\n
For all the \u201cold things passed away\u201d there \u201care new things.\u201d It is new
\nthat we \u201cgroan to be clothed upon with our house from heaven\u201d. If we
\nwill be honest with the 2 Corinthians 5 it will be obvious that there
\nwere \u201cold things we believed, old ways that we lived, that have passed
\naway\u201d and there \u201care new things\u201d. Faith is new, love for Christ is new,
\nhis righteousness is new, and reconciliation is new, that all for whom
\nChrist died, died with him. Not knowing Christ after the flesh is new,
\nwe now know Him spiritually. How did \u201cold things pass away, and all
\nthings become new?” God made us New Creatures In Christ!

GOD\u2019S TRUE ISRAEL
\nGenesis 21: 12\u2026In Isaac shall thy seed be called
\nGod told Abraham not all his physical children were God\u2019s true Israel.
\nGod told him to cast out his son Ishmael, \u201cFor in Isaac shall thy seed
\nbe called.\u201d (Gen 21: 19) God tells us what he meant. \u201cThey are not all
\nIsrael, which are of Israel: Neither, because they are the seed of
\nAbraham, are they all children: but, In Isaac shall thy seed be called.
\nThat is, They which are the children of the flesh, these are not the
\nchildren of God: but the children of the promise are counted for the
\nseed. For this is the word of promise, At this time will I come, and
\nSara shall have a son.\u201d (Rom 9: 6-9) God\u2019s true Israel are the children
\nof promise, elected of God by free grace. He promised that each elect
\nchild shall be born again of God the Holy Spirit at God\u2019s appointed time
\nlike Isaac was born of God at the set time.<\/p>\n
Furthermore, God told Abraham that God\u2019s true Israel were not only among
\npolitical Israel but also scattered among the Gentiles. God said of
\nAbraham, \u201cAll the nations of the earth shall be blessed in him?\u201d (Gen
\n18: 18) Again, God tells us what he meant. \u201cAnd the scripture,
\nforeseeing that God would justify the heathen through faith, preached
\nbefore the gospel unto Abraham, saying, In thee shall all nations be
\nblessed. So then they which be of faith are blessed with faithful
\nAbraham\u2026(Gal 3: 8-9)<\/p>\n
Lastly, God told Abraham that it was in Christ that all God\u2019s elect
\nwould be made into his one holy nation. \u201cAnd in thy seed shall all the
\nnations of the earth be blessed.\u201d (Gen 22: 18) Once more God tells us
\nwhat he meant. \u201cNow to Abraham and his seed were the promises made. He
\nsaith not, And to seeds, as of many; but as of one, And to thy seed,
\nwhich is Christ.\u201d (Gal 3: 16) The reason it is certain that all God\u2019s
\nelect, redeemed children shall be born-again and called to faith is
\nbecause the Father promised Christ they would the same as God promised
\nAbraham. The word of promise is \u201cat this time will I come\u201d and each
\nelect child shall be born of the Spirit like as Isaac was born at the
\nset time according to promise.<\/p>\n
So we see that God made political Israel and fulfilled every earthly
\npromise to them to show that God alone puts a difference between his
\nspiritual Israel and the rest of the world by divine election, by blood
\nredemption and by divine regeneration. Those for whom the triune God has
\nperformed this promised work are the true Israel of God, \u201cFor ye are all
\nthe children of God by faith in Christ Jesus. For as many of you as have
\nbeen baptized into Christ have put on Christ. There is neither Jew nor
\nGreek, there is neither bond nor free, there is neither male nor female:
\nfor ye are all one in Christ Jesus. And if ye be Christ\u2019s, then are ye
\nAbraham\u2019s seed, and heirs according to the promise.\u201d Gal 3: 26-29)<\/p>\n
\u201cNow we, brethren, as Isaac was, are the children of promise.\u201d (Gal 4: 28)
