He seeks rest and satisfaction in\nthings that are perishing. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He can never look\nbeyond the mortal and corruptible. The yoke of the faithless is the heavy\nburden of sin and the sentence of death. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He looks to the\nlaw for help but is only condemned for his efforts.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>However, those who are taught\nof Christ by God the Spirit find sweet and lasting rest in His Person and work.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The accomplishment of Christ\nfor His people is complete satisfaction to God.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The only rest for the soul is\nGod-given faith in Christ through the preaching of the Gospel. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Christ our Lord was made sin\nand suffered our punishment for us, His elect, and now ever reigns for us in\nglory. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Looking to Him we find peace,\ncomfort and rest in trials and adversity, as well in times of prosperity and\npeace.&nbsp; It was a small group and in that\ngroup was a man in a wheel chair. He said to me after preaching a message that\nhe believed that gospel. He said that he had been listening to my pastor Henry\nMahan and loved that message that he preached. After preaching there for about\nfive weeks, I received a phone call on a Saturday night telling me that the\ngentleman in the wheel chair had passed away and that I did not need to come\nback to preach anymore because they did not believe the gospel that I preached.\nWhat a blessing it was to me to be used of God to feed one of His sheep before\ntaking him home and what a curse it was to them who rejected it. There are no\naccidental meetings with the gospel. <em>2Co 2:15<\/em><em>-16<\/em><em>&nbsp; For we are\nunto God a sweet savour of Christ, in them that are saved, and in them that\nperish:&nbsp;To the one we are the savour of death unto death; and to the other\nthe savour of life unto life. And who is sufficient for these things?&nbsp; <\/em><em>John Chapman<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8212;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Is Our Message\nOffensive?<\/strong>&nbsp;\n&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Paul called his\nmessage&nbsp;<em>\u201cthe offense of the cross\u201d (Galatians 5:11)<\/em>.&nbsp; Again\nand again he warned that the true Gospel of God\u2019s grace and glory would meet\nwith great opposition from the religious world and the natural\nworld.&nbsp;&nbsp;<em>\u201cThe preaching of the cross is foolishness\u201d (I Corinthians\n1:18).&nbsp; \u201cThe natural man receiveth\nnot the things of the Spirit of God\u201d (I Corinthians 2:14).<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Our Lord\nsaid,&nbsp;<em>\u201cMarvel not, my brethren, if the world hate you\u201d (I John\n3:13).&nbsp;<\/em>He also said,&nbsp;<em>\u201cThey shall put you out of the\nsynagogues&nbsp;<\/em>(organized religion)<em>: yea the time cometh, that\nwhosoever killeth you will think that he\ndoeth God service\u201d (John 16:2).&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/em>If what we preach is NOT\noffensive to the religionist and to the worldling, then it is NOT THE GOSPEL OF\nCHRIST.&nbsp; I repeat, it is not the Gospel!&nbsp;&nbsp;~Todd Nibert<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8212;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>GRACE IS WHAT I NEED<\/strong> \u2013 God\u2019s free,\nabundant, satisfying, sanctifying grace! I need grace to believe God and to\ncontinue in that faith. I need grace to give and forgive, grace to love and be\nloved, grace to live and grace to die. If I have little grace, the fault is\nmine; for His grace is called, \u201cabundant grace.\u201d The Lord may not give gold,\nbut He will give grace. He may not give ease in life, but He will give grace in\nproportion to my need. He will certainly send me trials, but never without the\ngrace to overcome. I may ask God for something which is not for my good and\ntherefore He is not pleased to give it, but I may ask for as much grace as I\nwill, and it will never be refused; for His throne is literally a throne of\ngrace! \u201cLord, fill me with Thy grace, make me an object of Thy grace, let my\nlips speak of Thy grace, and let my life be lived as a trophy of Thy grace!\u201d\n&nbsp;<em>Henry Mahan<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8212;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The\nmost important aspect of a believer\u2019s life is public worship &#8211; the worship of\nGod in the assembly of his saints, collectively singing his praise, calling\nupon him in prayer, and hearing the exposition of his Word by the preaching of\nthe gospel.&nbsp; ~Don\nFortner<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8212; <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>CHRIST DIED FOR OUR SINS ACCORDING TO THE SCRIPTURES<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><em>\u201cFor I\ndelivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ\ndied for our sins according to the scriptures\u201d<\/em><\/strong> <strong>(1&nbsp;Corinthians\n15:3).<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The gospel is not\njust that Christ died. The gospel is how that He died for us according to God\u2019s\neternal and immutable decree, \u201c<em>the scriptures\u201d<\/em> (Acts 2:23: Revelation\n13:8).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2022&nbsp;The\nscriptures declare that His death was <strong>appointed<\/strong> (Genesis 3:15; 22:8;\nPsalm&nbsp;22; Psalm&nbsp;69; Matthew 16:21; Galatians 4:4).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2022&nbsp;The\nscriptures declare that His death was <strong>voluntary,<\/strong> He willingly laid down\nHis life for us (Isaiah 53:7; John 10:17-18).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2022&nbsp;The\nscriptures declare that His death was <strong>substitutionar<\/strong>y (Isaiah 53:4-6;\n2&nbsp;Corinthians 5:21; 1&nbsp;Peter 3:18).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2022&nbsp;The\nscriptures declare that His death was to <strong>accomplish definite atonement<\/strong>\nfor His people (Isaiah 53:8; Matthew 1:21; John 10:15; Hebrews 2:17).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2022&nbsp;The\nscriptures declare that His death <strong>satisfied<\/strong> all the demands of God\u2019s\nholy Law (Isaiah 42:21; 53:10-12; Daniel 9:24; Rom. 4:25).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2022&nbsp;The\nscriptures declare that His death was most <strong>effectual<\/strong> to put away all the\nsin of the covenant people (Psalm 103:12; Isaiah 38;17; Micah 7:18-20; Hebrews\n9:26; 10:17; 1&nbsp;John 1:7).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Every pledge of\nsalvation has its accomplishment in the Lord Jesus Christ: \u201c<em>For all the\npromises of God in him are yea, and in him Amen, unto the glory of God by us<\/em>\u201d\n(2&nbsp;Corinthians 1:21). All that God has promised concerning salvation in\nChrist is certain and sure: \u201c<em>And being fully persuaded that, what he had\npromised, he was able also to perform<\/em>\u201d (Romans 4:21).&nbsp; <em>Tom Harding<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8212; <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In 1808 a lawyer\nmade this accusation against Robert Hawkers Christ centered preaching. \u201cHis preaching encourages\nsin in that it makes a man rely fully on Christ so that he does not strive to\nmend his own unrighteousness.\u201d I love Mr. Hawker\u2019s reply. Only in finding\nChrist have I been taught the lesson of \u2018denying ungodliness and worldly lust,\nand living soberly, righteously, and godly in this present world.\u2019&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; &nbsp;\n&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;\n&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;\n&nbsp;&nbsp;~GE<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8212;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We assemble\nourselves together today not for any vain reason of custom or conscience, but\nin obedience to Him who has called us out of darkness into His marvelous light. It is through the Gospel, the\nmessage of Christ and Him crucified that sinners are effectually drawn unto\nHim, the only hope of their salvation. The promise and faithfulness of God\nAlmighty to bless His word is the reason that all carnal methods of false\nworship are shunned. May He be honored\ntoday and the people of God be blessed through the preaching of the\ncross.&nbsp; &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;\n&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;\n&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;~Marvin\nStalnaker<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8212; <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Perilous Times<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;\n\u201cThis know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come.\u201d&nbsp;<\/em>(II Timothy 3:1)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;\nI imagine most people would say that we are living in perilous times right\nnow.&nbsp; These are not perilous days because of the pandemic gripping the\nworld.&nbsp;&nbsp; These are not perilous days because of civil unrest caused\nby man\u2019s hateful nature.&nbsp; These are perilous days because of the many\nissues that take our attention off of Christ.&nbsp; May God be pleased to stop\nus from becoming obsessed with society\u2019s issues and make us obsessed with\nknowing and trusting Christ.&nbsp; May God be pleased to give us the wisdom to\nnot become obsessed with how to govern the world (Let the potsherd strive with\nthe potsherds of the earth. (Isaiah 45:9)) and make us obsessed with the\npreaching of Christ and Him crucified.&nbsp; May God be pleased to make us\nobsessed with knowing Christ and resting in Him.&nbsp; In a few short days all\nof these earthly events will be forgotten, but knowing Christ will still be all\nimportant to our souls.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;\n~Frank Tate&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>\u201cSmile, God Loves\nYou\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Those who endorse\nand promote the above statement are ignorant of two basic biblical truths. They\nare ignorant of the holy character and nature of God, and of the fallen sinful\nnature of man.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>By their natures\nGod and fallen man are enemies. They naturally hate one another. God is holy\nand man is sin. God is pure and man is corrupt. God is light and man is\ndarkness. God is good and man is bad. Fallen man, in the eyes of the holy God,\nis odious and despicable. He is unacceptable, unreceivable, unforgivable and\nunlovable by the holy God of the Bible. Divine holiness cannot love sin. Divine\nholiness hates sin! Divine holiness cannot forgive sin. Divine holiness must\npunish sin! (Exodus 34:7). God hates all workers of iniquity&#8230;..and is angry\nwith them continually (Psalm 5:5; 7:11). \u201cThe wages of sin is death\u201d (Romans\n6:23). \u201cThe soul that sinneth, it shall\ndie\u201d (Ezekiel 18:4, 20). For a man to indiscriminately address sinners with a \u201cSmile,\nGod loves you\u201d is to be as the false prophets of Jeremiah\u2019s day who cried\n\u201cPeace, peace: when there is no peace\u201d (Jer. 6:14; 8:11).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>IN CHRIST God\nloved, chose, blessed, and ordained unto eternal glory an innumerable multitude\nof sinners (Ephesians 1:1-11). God loves sinners IN CHRIST. His love for\nsinners is IN CHRIST (Romans 8:39). The true preacher\u2019s message is not \u201cSmile,\nGod loves you\u201d, but rather it is \u201cGuilty, perishing, hell-deserving sinner,\nflee to Christ.\u201d IN HIM is redemption, righteousness, reconciliation, and\neternal glory. Get to Christ&#8230;Look to Christ&#8230;Believe and trust HIM and you\nshall be saved.
