C. Philpot<\/a>)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Many think that a&nbsp;<strong>minister&nbsp;<\/strong>is exempt from such<br>coldness, deadness, and barrenness, as private<br>Christians feel. And the hypocritical looks and<br>words of many of Satan\u2019s ministers favour this<br>delusion. Holiness is so much on their&nbsp;<strong>tongues<\/strong>,<br>and on their&nbsp;<strong>faces<\/strong>, that their deluded hearers<br>necessarily conclude that it is in their&nbsp;<strong>hearts<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>But, alas! nothing is easier or more common,<br>than&nbsp;<strong>an apostolic face and a Judas heart<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Most pictures that I have seen of the \u201cLast Supper\u201d<br>represent&nbsp;<strong>Judas&nbsp;<\/strong>with a ferocious countenance. Had<br>painters drawn a holy, meek-looking face, I believe<br>they would have given a truer resemblance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Many pass for&nbsp;<strong>angels in the pulpit<\/strong>, who if the truth<br>were known, would be seen to be devils and beasts<br>in heart, lip, and life at home.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWoe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye make clean the outside of the cup and of the platter, but within they are full of extortion and excess.
