This is very often the case with the believer; he is seldom long without something to trouble him. He has . . .<\/p>\n\n\n\n
so much sin within him,<\/p>\n\n\n\n
so many foes without him, and<\/p>\n\n\n\n
such unexpected and difficult things in his path<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u2013that he is often agitated and distressed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Where he looked for comfort, he finds sorrow;<\/p>\n\n\n\n
where he expected help, he finds hindrance;<\/p>\n\n\n\n
where he promised himself pleasure, he experiences pain.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He is wearied: <\/p>\n\n\n\n
weary of himself,<\/p>\n\n\n\n
weary of sin,<\/p>\n\n\n\n
weary of the world,<\/p>\n\n\n\n
weary of the carnal state of the church.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
But what a mercy it is for the troubled Christian, that his Lord has experienced trouble as well as himself; so that He can sympathise with him. Jesus once said, \u201cNow My soul is deeply troubled!\u201d He has a fellow-feeling with us in all our troubles; and will first sanctify them, and then safely bring us out of them.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Beloved, are you troubled today?<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Carry your troubled heart to Jesus, pour it out before Him.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He can calm it, soothe it, and give it cheering repose.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
