\n Luxuriating forever!<\/strong>
\n <\/em><\/strong>

\n Beloved, the Lord Jesus intends that His
\n people shall be near unto Him in heaven.
\n
\n His satisfaction of soul will not be complete
\n until He clusters around Him in glory all for
\n whom His soul travailed in suffering on earth.
\n
\n Nothing shall separate Him from His people!
\n
\n Not a jewel from His crown, not a lamb from the
\n fold, shall be missing from the Father’s house!
\n
\n You will drink of the pure river of the water of
\n life, clear as crystal, flowing from the throne
\n of God and of the Lamb!
\n
\n You will eat of the fruit of the tree of life in
\n the midst of the paradise of God, yielding
\n its fruit every month!
\n
\n You will….
\n behold Christ in His glory,
\n enjoy God forever,
\n be perfected in purity, and
\n swim in the ocean of infinite and eternal blessedness!
\n
\n There Jesus will take you, dear saints of God.
\n
\n And there shall be….
\n no more exile,
\n no more sorrow,
\n no more neediness,
\n no more parting,
\n no more sickness,
\n no more death, and
\n no more sin.
\n
\n You will be luxuriating forever<\/strong> amid\n the
\n glories and plenitude of the new Jerusalem!\n <\/td><\/tr><\/tbody><\/table>\n\n\n\n

 There is a holy God whom I cannot please, but Christ did.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

              There is a holy\nlaw I cannot keep, but Christ did. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

              There is a\nperfect righteousness that I cannot earn, but Christ did.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

              There is a\nconvicting record of sin that I cannot erase, but Christ did.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\n Let us ever remember that Christ on the cross is
\n of no value to us, apart from the Holy Spirit in us.
\n
\n In vain that blood is flowing, unless the finger of the Spirit
\n applies the blood to our conscience; in vain is that garment
\n of righteousness wrought out, unless the Holy Spirit wraps
\n it around us and arrays us in its costly folds.
\n
\n The river of the water of life cannot quench our thirst,
\n till the Spirit presents the goblet and lifts it to our lips.
\n
\n All the things which are in the paradise of God could never be
\n blissful to us, so long as we are dead souls — and dead we are,
\n until that heavenly wind comes and breathes upon us, that we
\n may live.
\n
\n We do not hesitate to say that we owe as much to God the Holy
\n Spirit as we do to God the Son. Indeed, it were a high sin and
\n misdemeanor to attempt to put one person of the divine Trinity
\n before another.

\u201cWhence Hast Thou\nThat Living Water?\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

John 4:11<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

            The\nLord Jesus told this woman plainly that if she had known the gift of God and\nwho he was, she would have asked of him, and he would have given her living\nwater. I fully realize that she did not know the full implication of what he\nsaid; but she obviously understood that he was talking about something\ndifferent from the waters which gathered in Jacob\u2019s well. He was talking about\nwater bubbling with life from a constantly renewed and renewing source, an\nartesian well of water. Therefore, she asked a very reasonable question. \u2013 She\nsaid, \u201cWhence hast thou that living water?\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The\nLord Jesus Christ has all grace, salvation, and eternal life in himself. He has\nit for sinners (He does not need it!) to give away freely. And he gives it to\nevery sinner who ask him for it. Still the question to be answered is — \u201cWhence\nhast thou that living water?\u201d <\/em>How is it that Christ alone has grace,\nsalvation, and eternal life in himself to give to needy sinners, and no one\nelse and nothing else does?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It is true, salvation is the work of the triune God. The Father\nchose us. The Son redeemed us. The Holy Spirit converts us. But God the Father\nwill not and cannot give us this living water without Christ. And God the\nSpirit cannot give us this living water without Christ. How is it that Christ\nalone has this living water to give to poor, needy, thirsty sinners? \u201cWhence\nthen hast thou that living water?\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

            He\nhas it because of who he is. He is the only fit person to have it. God could\nnever come down to man. Man could never rise to God. If ever the two come\ntogether they must meet in a Mediator, a Daysman, who can lay hold of both God\nand man. That Daysman, that Mediator is the Lord Jesus Christ. Christ alone is\nthe Mediator between God and men (1 Tim. 2:5; Acts 4:12).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

            Did\nyou ever notice how careful the writers of Holy Scripture were to refer to the\nLord Jesus Christ, almost always, in the most reverent, worshipful terms.\nSeldom did any speak of him only by his earthly name, \u201cJesus.\u201d He is often\ncalled by his title, \u201cChrist,\u201d and by the term, \u201cthe Lord.\u201d But he is most\ncommonly called, \u201cthe Lord Jesus Christ,\u201d<\/em> because all that he\nis is essential to our salvation by him.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

                  He\nhas all salvation in himself, because he is \u201cthe Lord.\u201d<\/em> Who\nshould have it, but \u201cthe Lord\u201d<\/em>? \u201cSalvation is\nthe LORD\u2019S!\u201d <\/em>Salvation is his to give, because he is \u201cJesus,\u201d<\/em> who\ncame into this world to save his people from their sins (Matt. 1:21). He\nhas salvation in himself to give to sinners, because he is \u201cChrist,\u201d <\/em>the\nChrist of God.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He\nis the Anointed One<\/em>, sent from God to be our Savior! On the day of\nhis immersion in the river Jordan to fulfil all righteousness, the\nSpirit of God descended upon him in the form of a dove, and abode on him. God\ngave the Spirit to him without measure. He was anointed with the oil of\ngladness above his fellows. This is exactly what he announced to the Jews in\nthe temple when he began his public ministry (Lk. 4:16-21). He has\nthis \u201cliving water\u201d <\/em>of salvation, grace, and eternal life to\ngive to sinners, because he is the Lord Jesus Christ.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\nThirsty?<\/strong> who is not thirsty? It is the cry of
\nuniversal humanity! Who does not feel that this
\nworld is presenting us with muddy\nstreams and<\/strong>
\nbroken, leaky cisterns.<\/strong> Who\ndoes not feel, in
\ntheir moments of deep and calm reflection, when
\nwe are brought face to face with the great enigma
\nof existence\u2014that the world is serving up faded<\/strong>
\n<\/strong>flowers<\/strong> instead of those redolent with\nimperishable
\nfragrance, and glowing with unfading bloom.
\n
\nProdigal! Wanderer from God, exile from peace,
\nroaming the forest haunts of sin, plunging deeper
\nand deeper into their midnight of ruin and despair;
\nhas an arrow wounded your heart? Are you, in your
\nagony, seeking rest and finding none\u2014having the
\ngnawing feeling of dissatisfaction with all created
\nthings, and an undefined longing for a solace they
\ncannot give? Yes! for your gaping, bleeding wound
\nthere is “balm<\/strong> in Gilead, and a Physician\nthere!”
\n
\n“Yes, Lord! I come! Thirsty, faint, forlorn, wounded,
\n weary! I come, just as I am, without one plea. You
\n are all I need, all I require\u2014in sickness and health,
\n in joy and in sorrow, in life and in death, in time

\nCome, then, my soul, to Him \u2014 as an empty vessel<\/em> to\nbe filled. A supply is waiting for you in Christ Jesus. “It has pleased\nthe Father that in Him should all fullness dwell.” He is the never-failing Fountain of blessing!<\/strong> Out\nof His fullness, you may receive grace upon grace. Whatever you need \u2014 come to\nGod in Christ for it.
\n
\nIs your faith <\/em>weak? He can strengthen it.
\n
\nIs your hope <\/em>dull? He can enliven it.
\n
\nIs your love <\/em>cold? He can warm it.
\n
\nIs your patience <\/em>failing? He can sustain it.
\n
\nIs your zeal <\/em>languishing? He can invigorate it.
\n
\nAnd observe, the Lord gives not only a new supply of grace, but\nHe also gives it in a larger measure: “He gives more <\/em>grace!”\nHe came not only that we might have life \u2014 but that we might have it “more\nabundantly.”
\n
\nCome, then, to Him with enlarged desires.
\nHe can fill you with joy and peace in believing.
\nHe can enable you to bear much fruit to the glory of the Father.
\nHe can bless you, and make you a blessing to many.

\nO Lord, enlarge my desires, raise my expectations, and help me\nto receive, not only constant<\/em> supplies of grace \u2014 but increased<\/em> supplies\nout of Your fullness! For You give “more grace!”

\nOh, how was His tender heart touched by the scene He witnessed\non this occasion! The sight excited the liveliest emotions in His sinless\nbosom; and with a look beaming with pity, and in the most tender tones, He said\nto her, “Do not weep!”<\/em>

\nIn the Person of our adorable Redeemer, we behold mercy\nincarnate<\/em>. This was the garb in which the whole of His other virtues were\narrayed; the soft luster with which they were all surrounded and adorned.

\nSuch was the character of Jesus in the days of His flesh, and\nsuch is it still. He with whom we have to do, whose favor we implore, and whose\nblessings we supplicate \u2014 far from being a harsh, unfeeling Master \u2014 is a\nloving Savior and compassionate Friend. His\nheart is a fountain of mercy, and its streams are perpetually flowing!<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n
