The personal attractions of Jesus!
(from “Go and Tell Jesus” by Octavius Winslow) The personal attractions of Jesus
are all inviting and irresistible!
His love wins us.
His glory charms us.
His beauty attracts us.
His sympathy soothes us.
His gentleness subdues us.
His faithfulness inspires us.
He is the “altogether lovely One!”
Jesus is all […]

The day of atonement foreshadowed, in type, the sin-atoning work of the Lord Jesus Christ for God’s true Israel. The chapter begins “And the LORD spake unto Moses.” In order for sinners to approach God in his Way, the LORD must speak into the heart he has made new. God teaches his children what he […]

“For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus has made me free from the law of sin and death.” Romans 8:2 The interpretation we propose for the adoption of the reader is that which regards the “law of the Spirit of life,” as describing the gospel of Christ, frequently denominated a “law”—and emphatically […]

The Life Giver You may take a corpse, you may dress it in all the garments of eternal decency; you may wash it with the water of morality; yes, you may adorn it with the crown of profession, you may put on its forehead a tiara of beauty, you may paint its cheeks, until you […]

He puts us in our right place! (J. C. Ryle, “Having the Spirit“) “When He comes, He will convict the world about sin, righteousness, and judgment.” (John 16:8) All who have the Spirit are convinced by Him of sin. He alone can open a man’s eyes to the real extent of his guilt and corruption before […]

Nor will anyone sincerely and spiritually cry for mercy, until sin is spiritually felt and known . . . in its misery, […]

Who hath saved us, and called us with an holy calling, not according to our works, but according to his own purpose and grace, which was given us in Christ Jesus before the world began But is now made manifest by the appearing of our Saviour Jesus Christ, who hath abolished death, and hath brought […]

The Golden Key! The Golden Thread! by Octavius Winslow Jesus is the one great theme both of the Old Testament and the New. The whole Bible is designed to testify of Christ, “The Scriptures point to Me!” John 5:39 In Christ the Messiah, in Jesus the Savior, in the Son of God the Redeemer — all the truths of the […]

All true religion Jesus is . . . our sun, and without Him all is darkness; our life, and without Him all is death; the beginner and finisher of our faith; the substance of our hope; the object of our love. It is the Spirit who quickens us . . . to feel our need […]

Some Things We Know I Peter 1:18-23 Believers are men and women who are taught of God. Being taught of God, they know some things. Others have opinions, theories, speculations, and conjectures, but believers know some things. Here are four things that Peter says the people of God know. 1. WE KNOW THAT WE WERE […]
